This article contains information regarding a fresh installation of PowerExcel  v24.36 into a fresh Window OS machine.

So in this example we are installing POXL v24.36 on a fresh window 2016 data center. Upon installation, we encounter it was requiring us to install .NET 3.5

To install .NET 3.5 we go to Windows Programs and Feature and Turn Window Feature on or off

Then we enable .NET Framework 3.5 and to be safe we also enable ASP.NET 4.6 (Please not that .NET Framework 4.6 is already enable by default)

After .NET 3.5 and ASP.NET 4.6 installed. We redo the POXL installation and succefully installed POXL v24.36

But when we open EXCEL... PowerExcel Tab was not shown.

Hence we started to debug the issue by goinh into to Excel Option  COM Add-ins and check Powerexcel option.

But still POXL Tab wont show.

So we continue our investigation and it seems that the PowerExcel Add-in is not being Active on the Excel Add-in Option

So we decded to run powerexcel VSTO which we think it did not installed.

C:\ProgramData\PowerExcel\PowerExcel.vsto

After we ran the PowerExcel VSTO, there was an error regarding cannot be loaded because a compatible version of the  .NET Framework is not installed.

At this point we think that the problem was the machine does not have the correct and update version of the .NET Framework and decide to install the latest .NET Framework 4.8 (Attached is .NET Framework 4.8 Web Installer)

After installing .NET Framework 4.8, We ran the PowerExcel VSTO and succesully installed.

We now open Excel and go to Add-in Option, Manage COM Add-in and Enable PowerExcel

Then the licensing dialog appeared

Result PowerExcel-Add-in Tab appeared.

So in summary we conclude that before installing POXL v24.36 we need .NET framework 4.8 installed.
